Master Source - Book Example

This is an example of a genealogy in book form, not to be confused with a locality history.

  • Source Name - because it's formatted this way, in my master source list, all the genealogies will now be grouped together, sorted by major surname, then by title

  • Publication Facts - use the Assistant to properly format

  • Text of Source - I usually type the preface of the book here

  • Comments - "272 p. : ill., geneal. tables, ports." copied this from the FHLC

  • Repository - wherever you found the book

  • Picture - could scan in the title page if desired

Source Detail - Book Example

I've included the page number, and the film number.  The film number doesn't go with the master source because this book could have hundreds of different call numbers if it was located in many repositories.  Remember to use the source clipboard to make documenting more enjoyable!
