Error 339 in Windows 8, Windows 7
and Windows Vista
First, repair your Legacy
program by updating it. Often missing or out-of-date files will be replaced
when updating. Note: Temporarily disable your Internet security (firewall,
anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware, popup blockers, etc.) because some very
aggressive programs may remove system files that Legacy needs to run or block
Legacy from reaching the Internet when trying to download.
Go to www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp
to download and install the Legacy 7.5 Update file.
If you have Legacy 6.0 go to
www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/helpDownloadVersion6.asp . (Earlier
version are not Windows Vista compatible.)
Next, do the following steps for your version of
Windows:
WINDOWS VISTA: If the User Account Control (UAC) feature has been disabled in
Windows Vista, you need to re-enable it.
1. Open up Control Panel, and type in 'user account'
into the search box and press Enter.
2. Click on the link for Turn User Account Control (UAC)
on or off.
3. Check the box, then click OK, and reboot your computer. Legacy should run
properly now. Rebooting will also turn your Internet security back on.
Windows 8 and Windows 7: If the User Account Control (UAC)
feature is been enabled in Windows 8 or Windows 7, you need to change it.
1. Open up Control Panel, and type ‘UAC' into the search box and
press Enter.
2. Move the slider bar to the bottom, Never Notify.
3. Check the box, then click OK, and reboot your computer to make the
UAC change take effect and to reactivate your Internet security programs.
Legacy should run properly now.
