General Printing Problems:
- Make certain you have the most recent Update is installed to Legacy.
- Fix potential problems in your family file by clicking on File
> File Maintenance > Check/Repair and follow the
prompts. If there are errors in your family file, they may
result in printing and picture problems.
- Please click File on the menu bar and select Print Setup
from the file menu. When the Print Setup window opens, make
certain the correct printer for your computer shows in the Name box.
- Next with the Report Selection screen open to the report you wish to
print, click the Reset
button in the lower right corner to reset
the report options. Click Yes when prompted about resetting the
defaults; then reselect your report options. This often fixes problems
where certain pictures are not printing in reports.
- Check the Report Options to make sure your preferences are
selected. (From
the Report screen click the Report Options button and
select the appropriate tab.) If you pictures are not printing, make
certain you click the Pictures tab and check the options for pictures.
This is important if other spouses or pictures, etc. are not
printing. Click on Help for details about options.
- Try changing the font size to see if it makes a difference. (From
the Report screen click the Report Options button and
select the Fonts tab.) This is important if text appears
squeezed or cut in half. Also click the Reset
button in the lower right corner to reset
the report defaults.
- In some instances pictures and pages may drop out when printing a
very large book because the printer buffer limit is exceeded. In
these cases click on Print Preview and try printing the report or book
in smaller range of pages.
- You should also delete the contents of the C:\Windows\Temp folder on
your hard drive (Windows 95/98/ME/XP) or the C:\WINNT\Temp folder
(Windows 2000/NT).
- Make certain the correct driver is installed for your printer and
that it is up-to-date. You should visit your printer manufacturer's
Web page or call their service center to check.
- Check to see if a memory-resident anti-virus program is running. We
have experienced anti-virus software that actually moved some system
files from the C:\Windows\System directory to a different directory.
Disable the virus software and try again. You may have to re-install
Legacy with AV software (for example Real Player) removed and load a different AV program.
- In addition, we have had a few people who have experienced some
basic printer problems. Please make certain your printer is plugged in
and turn on and that the cables are firmly attached.
- If you are getting VSPRINT7.OCX errors, or missing/changed file
errors, please send an message to Support@LegacyFamilyTree.com
with the details.
