First Let Us Share Some Information About The

Legacy Family Tree Southbound Alaskan Cruise

For those who are not doing the optional 6 day tour before the Legacy Cruise we recommend a one way flight into Anchorage Alaska at least the day before.  We will have hotel recommendations closer to sailing.  We will also be recommending a few bed and breakfast for those interested in this.

On the morning of Sept 2, 2016 We highly recommend taking the train from Anchorage to Seward. There is a standard seat for $96 per person and a deluxe Dome car for $182 per person. I’ve sailed to Alaska 9 times and the best sailing is from Seward. This train ride is the best in the world!

The route between Anchorage and Seward is considered by many to be the most scenic in the state. After traveling through Anchorage you will descend through the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge. This area, also commonly known as Potter's Marsh, is a good place to spot water fowl and moose. Your trip continues along the Turnagain Arm, a body of water featuring the world's second highest tides at over 30 feet. Beluga whales can often be seen following salmon on the incoming tide, and Dall sheep frequent rocky mountain sides. After passing Girdwood and Portage the track turns and enters some of Alaska's most pristine wilderness area. Be sure to have your camera ready as you pass Spencer Glacier, Bartlett Glacier and travel through Grandview Pass.

Welcome aboard Radiance of the Seas & Seward, Alaska

Alaska Sealife Center

Seward is perched on a peninsula where the ice age has had lasting power. Where ocean and mountains meet, the frosty waters and rugged coast of Resurrection Bay sustain birds, sea mammals and other marine life

Hubbard Up Close

Hubbard Glacier is 76 miles long, 7 miles wide and 350 feet above the water line where it meets the bay. Watch as massive chunks of ice crash into the bay, a process known as calving that the Tlingit people call "White Thunder."

Glacial Landscape

Surrounded by fjords, forest and snow-capped mountains, Juneau is one gorgeous state capital. Its historic downtown harkens back to its gold-rush origins and you can still pan for gold. But nature is the priceless treasure.

The great Klondike Rush lives on in Skagway’s charming downtown of restored 19th-century buildings and its historic railway. From the vintage train, admire the mountains and see the 1898 trail that fortune seekers traveled on foot.

Historic Cannery

Icy Strait Point the Huna Tlingit welcome visitors to Chichagof Island, where you can experience their rich culture, unspoiled wilderness and the wonders of Glacier Bay National Park. Inside the 1912 cannery complex visit the free museum.

Misty Fjords

Ketchikan is the gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument, whose landscapes and dramatic seascapes can only be reached by plane or boat. The Salmon Capital is a hub for sports fishing and home to a collection of totem poles.

Hubbard Glacier

The Inside Passage embodies the best of Alaska's pristine nature and rugged beauty. The wildlife, rainforest shrouded in mist, magnificent fjords and the majesty of the Hubbard Glacier are among the many photo ops.

Stanley Park

Set between the sea and snow-capped mountains, Vancouver is a stylish multicultural metropolis. Explore its different neighborhoods, including historic Gastown, visit city parks and beaches, and dine at acclaimed restaurants.

If you would like to hear all about our first Legacy Genealogy Cruise in 2004 and see some of the fun pictures then click here.  In 2005 we went on an Eastern Caribbean cruise and in 2006 cruised to Alaska and then in 2007 enjoyed a 12 day Hawaiian cruise and in July of 2008 we had a remarkable 12 day cruise of a life time to the Baltic Capitals. We wrote all about our 2009 cruise to the Mediterranean here.  In 2010 we enjoyed a spectacular 13 day cruise from Australian to New Zealand.  In 2011 we did a 9 day cruise from New York up the East Coast into Canada.  We had two of the best cruises ever on our 2012 cruises (that's right, two cruises) a 9 day British Isles and an 6 day Northern European.  And in 2013 our Panama Canal Cruise was a huge success. In 2014 we had an excotic cruise to Asia. Our 2015 Western Caribbean Cruise was on one of the largest ships ever.
