How to speed up Vista on your laptop

If your laptop uses the Vista operating system, you will want to read the latest edition of The Old Shoebox Newsletter by Marlo E. Schuldt. In his article, "Speed Up Vista On Your Laptop", Marlo explains how changing one setting on your laptop can give you a tremendous difference in speed. He even stated that "it’s like having a new processor or computer!"

This was a helpful tip! I wasn’t really having all the much a problem, but I figured why not give it a try? I usually use my laptop while its plugged in, so there’s no need for me to have it set to conserve energy.
Making the adjustment resulted in an immediate improvement in performance!

Michele – I have also written a newsletter about removing your laptop battery when you are using AC. That’s most of the time for me. It will extend the life of your expensive laptop battery. Title is, “Help Your Laptop Battery Last Longer” just scroll down in the newsletter list.
David – Thanks for the tip about getting to the settings with one click instead of the control panel. Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees.

Marlo, yes, very good tip. You might add that at the bottom right of the screen there is an icon that looks like a power plug and cord sitting on a battery and that is a very quick way to access power settings and make changes…..much faster than going the Control Panel route.

Jeepers! I tried this and is really does make a difference! I keep my laptop plugged in most of the the time. I just need to change the setting when I go on battery 🙂 Thanks!
