It’s 2am Saturday morning, which is usually the middle of the night for me. Me, my wife, and daughter are wide awake on the 6th floor of the Montblanc Hotel in downtown Barcelona. Isn’t jet lag great! Back home it’s 5pm and my three boys are just beginning our Friday night tradition – pizza and a movie – this time with Grandma (thanks Mom for babysitting while I begin the vacation of a lifetime…). Kaitlyn, who turns 8 months old tomorrow, did pretty well on 12 plus hours of airplane rides yesterday, although she did let everyone on the plane know that she was there.
Last night we toured Barcelona via taxi en route to our hotel. After checkin we found a great Spanish restaurant. Delicious! Returning to the streets, we suddenly found ourselves in the middle of some kind of protest. Thousands of locals were peacefully chanting something – I wish I knew more Spanish. It was quite touching seeing the exercise of their freedom.
In just a few short hours we head to the ship – Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jade – to meet our other Legacy cruisers. Tonight we explore the ship, eat, and enjoy the Broadway-style entertainment. Tomorrow the Legacy classes begin as the ship sails towards Rome.
