We have a special announcement to share, and if you’ve logged into familytreewebinars.com, or joined a webinar in the last few weeks, you’ve likely already “felt” it:
Our entire webinar website has been rebuilt from the ground up!
Thanks to our parent company, MyHeritage, that provided a team of expert programmers and a suite of advanced AI tools, we have completely overhauled the site’s architecture. While we’ve intentionally kept the design familiar so you don’t have to “re-learn” how to use it, what’s under the hood is brand new.
10x Faster (And That’s Being Modest)
The primary goal of this rebuild was performance. Our developers tell us the site is now 10 times faster than it was previously. In our own testing, it feels even faster than that—pages snap into place, and videos load with zero hesitation.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. Here is what some of our expert webinar speakers noticed immediately:
- “The new site looks great!” — Colleen Robledo Greene, MLIS, FTxSGS
- “The website is FAST!” — Thomas MacEntee
- “Updated site by any chance? It was super fast to log in this time, plus I noticed a few changes (like more responsive).” — Diane Henriks
- “The speed of the website is simply amazing.” — Daniel Horowitz
Beyond the incredible speed, we’ve significantly improved the tools that let you manage your account. Updating your email address, changing your password, or even canceling your subscription (though we hope you won’t!) is now a seamless experience. We’ve also launched a brand-new Affiliate Program that allows you to earn a 10% commission on any memberships you refer with your unique link. Most importantly, this new foundation is ready for translation, meaning we will soon be expanding our reach to genealogists in many other countries and languages.
The MyHeritage Commitment
Our partnership with MyHeritage has provided the resources to make Legacy stronger than ever. Beyond rebuilding the webinar site, MyHeritage has recently:
- Rebuilt our Legacy software site at LegacyFamilyTree.com
- Rebuilt our Legacy News blog, keeping over 20 years of articles (dating back to 2005) alive and searchable.
- Funded Legacy Family Tree 10: Our genealogy software is now free for everyone and continues to be actively developed.
Full Support: Whether it’s security, design, or accounting, MyHeritage ensures Legacy remains the premier home for genealogy education.
A Look Back: From CDs to the Cutting Edge
It’s fun to remember where we started. Our virtual doors first opened in September 2010 with the world’s very first genealogy webinar. Back then, “on-demand” meant we actually burned replays onto CDs and mailed them to your house!
Remember this?
In March 2013, we launched our membership option ($49.95/year). At that time, we offered a library of 100 webinar videos, 350 pages of syllabus material, and a roster of 37 instructors. Today, the comparison is staggering:
- Video Library: 2,700+ webinar videos (up from 100)
- Syllabus Pages: 11,000+ pages (up from 350)
- Expert Instructors: ~500 world-class speakers (up from 37)
Today:
New Series and “Deep Dives”
We aren’t just adding more content; we’re adding the highest level of specialized instruction. This year alone, we’ve introduced:
- Monthly “Deep Dives”: Full days of intensive learning on a single topic. Our DNA, AI, Jewish Genealogy, and Census Research deep dives have been huge hits so far. We’ve still got these deep dives coming: Germany research, technology, U.S. records, photography, methodology, and European research
- DNA Mastery: Elite series like Advanced Topics in DNA by Blaine Bettinger and DNA in Action by Karen Stanbary, CG, CGG.
- Foundational Excellence: Essential Skills for New Genealogists by Dave McDonald.
- Exclusive Collections: From the Artificial Intelligence for Genealogists series to the Best of Elizabeth Shown Mills (she’ll be back in September) and our annual Webtember conference.
Investing in the Future: Price Adjustment on June 1 2026
If you look at the scale of what we’ve added since 2013—the 2,600 additional webinar videos, the 11,000+ syllabus pages, and now a lightning-fast website—it is hard to believe we have never increased our membership price.
To continue providing this level of elite instruction and cutting-edge technology, we will be adjusting our annual subscription price. Starting June 1, 2026, it will increase from $49.95/year to $59.95/year. MyHeritage Omni subscribers won’t be affected by this as they receive the webinar membership at no additional cost.
What you need to know:
- Effective Date: The new price takes effect on June 1, 2026.
- Automatic Renewals: There’s nothing special you need to do. Any new purchases and automated renewals occurring on or after June 1 will be billed at the new price. Note that if your membership’s next renewal date is scheduled for later in 2026 or even in 2027, the date will stay the same and won’t move earlier.
- Extension of Our Spring Sale: To give you one last chance to lock in incredible value, we are extending our 50% off Spring Sale through May 31 (for new subscriptions)! This allows you to grab a subscription or restart a subscription at a deep discount before the price changes.
When we consider that the library is 27 times larger than it was at launch, we believe this change better reflects the true value of our ~500 instructors and the high-speed platform we’ve built for you.
Thank you for being part of this journey since 2010. We can’t wait to see you at our upcoming webinars!
