When you get an error about “Error Opening Message File” or "Message file Cannot be found" -
Window 10 has a protection feature called Controlled Folder Access. Please try turning this off by going to your start menu and typing in Controlled Folder. This should bring up the option Controlled Folder Access. Once this is turned off try Legacy again.
If the above step does not fix the problem do the below steps:
Completely uninstall Legacy. See Uninstall - how to do a complete and totally clean removal of Legacy.
Please temporarily disable your Internet security (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, popup blockers, etc.) as these programs can sometimes cause problems when trying to download.
Download the Legacy setup file and save it (don't run it yet).

Previous version of Legacy: Click Here and download the final release (build) of your version.Sign on to your computer as Administrator. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Visit https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 for the directions.
If the error continues then you can try a registry repair. There are several utilities available to do this. Some cost money and some are free. We have had success with Ccleaner from Piriform. You can download the free version at https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download.
Restart you computer in Safe Mode and run the setup file to install Legacy Family Tree.
