The final build of Legacy Family Tree 6.0 and higher, are the only versions of Legacy that are completely compatible with the Windows 11, 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems.
Versions 4.0 and 5.0 can be made to run on the Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems with some modifications and a download from Microsoft.
Versions 2.0 and 3.0, which are 16-bit programs, are totally incompatible with the Windows 7 and Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems. No amount of modifying, patching or downloading will ever make them work. If you try to install them you will get a message:
“The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) 04 x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.”
