User32.dll errors

Updated yesterday

User32.dll is a Windows system file. It is not installed by Legacy. Windows stores instructions for graphical elements such as dialog boxes and windows in the User32.dll file. The User32.dll file is necessary to the operation of Windows. If Legacy accesses User32.dll incorrectly, the program will not work.

User32.dll errors are typically corrected by one of the following steps:

  1. Making sure that when you install Legacy that you have full admin rights. Often this is all that you need to do.

  2. By restarting your computer in Safe Mode and then reinstalling Legacy:
    LEGACY: https://legacyfamilytree.com/download-update
Previous version of Legacy: Click Here and download the final release (build) of your version.

  3. If the above procedures do not correct the User32.dll error, you can restore your computer to a condition before the error appeared by using the Windows System Restore feature.
