The following is from Legacy user, Scott Salberg: I use a couple of Web sites to ‘backup’ my data, and believe it or not, I have had reason to use these sites to retrieve data after computer crashes. Disasters like Hurricane Katrina are another, because your backup discs may not be safe in your home. Both sites allow you to retrieve your database in GEDOM form. Both sites accept the full Legacy GEDCOM. Putting your data on one or both of these sites is also useful if you are, for example, out of town for awhile and want to do a little genealogy work — you can download the GEDCOM to the computer you are using, make additions and changes, and re-upload it to the site. (You can always, also, download the Legacy program to the same computer.) Of course, you should always back up your data to CD, but sometimes those get lost or scratched. Worse yet, something could happen to your home. The two sites I use are Rootsweb.com and GenCircles.com.
