Creating Auto-Run CDs with Legacy Web Pages

You can create your Legacy genealogy web pages on a CD to share with family members and others.  The person who receives your CD won’t need to have an Internet connection — they will just pop the CD into their computer and presto – your genealogy web pages are ready to view and click through in the web browser!

    Dennis,
I’m not at all familiar with Mac computers but I did a google on “mac autorun.inf” and found a lot of hits discussing the differences. Not surprisingly, a Mac can’t use a Windows autorun.inf file.
Mac uses AutoStart, which is handled by QuickTime and I just read that Mac dropped that on the OS X. I didn’t find anything that showed how to create a small file like autorun.inf – you would need to locate and purchase a utility to create the AutoStart file and my question would be if you could find one that will run on a PC.
You might want to look at http://www.autorun-autoplay-tools.com/mac-autostart-facts.htm (I was trying to find a site that wasn’t selling something, but since you can’t create a simple text file for the Mac like you can for the PC, all I could find were technical forums or sites selling something!) You can google around for different programs and see if you find a freeware one or an inexpensive one that will also run on the PC.
Unfortunately, there’s also a dangerous “AutoStart Mac” worm which affects the Mac OS, which is the reason AutoStart was removed from the Mac OS x.

I am using a Passage Express to share my genealogy, but it doesn’t work on MACs & was thinking of switching over to just doing it in HTML.
One question, will the file it puts on the CD (inf file) also work on Macs?
