Webinars not playing because of privacy settings

Updated over 3 months ago

This message can appear if you are using BitDefender as your Anti-virus/security software. If you are using BitDefender, go to step 1. If you are not using BitDefender, then this could be a conflict between an addon/extension and the webinar site. Please go to step 2.

1. The BitDefender Anti Tracker extension on your browser is what is causing this error. You will need to set add https://familytreewebinars.com as an exception in the BitDefender. There is likely a BitDefender button on the top of your browser’s toolbar. Just click on it when you’re on the webinar site and all should now be well. Otherwise, here are further helps:

If the above does not fix the problem, please try the steps at the following site:

2. For users not using BitDefender, the problem may be with an addon/extension blocking the webinar from playing. The addon/extension may view the webinar as an ad and so will block it. One known addon/extension in Chrome/Firefox is called ClearURLs, but any ad/pop up blocker might block the webinar from playing if it views it as an ad. If you are using ClearURLs or any other ad/pop up blocker, please disable it in the extensions/addon section of your browser.

  • In Chrome you can access extensions by clicking the triple dot button going down at the top right and selecting extensions. Here you should see a list of your installed extensions and can disable them.

  • In Firefox you can access addons by clicking the triple line button at the top right and selecting add-ons and themes. Here you should see a list of your installed extensions in the extensions section at the top right.

  • If you are using another browser that is not Chrome or Firefox (DuckDuckGo has been known to cause problems with the webinar site), then please try switching browsers to Edge, Chrome, or Firefox and try the webinars there with no ad/pop up blocker addons/extensions.

Once the addon/extension has been removed, please refresh the webinar page and try playing the webinar again.
